Old and new forms of unequal access, exclusion, discrimination, stereotyping and violence accompany women and girls’ tech-mediated communication experiences. Civil society, academic and professional associations should be organized transnationally and adequately equipped to intervene and contribute gender-transformative perspectives in relevant venues. The session anticipates input into the UN Summit of the Future in 2024, where a Global Digital Compact will be agreed upon by the international community, and the 20th anniversary of the World Summit for the Information Society (WSIS+20), venues that will require prior strengthening of transnational mobilizations in order to foster a gender-just vision of the digital realm.
