Description
The Beijing Platform for Action’s Section ‘J’ called attention to the centrality of media and digital technologies for gender equality and women’s empowerment. 30 years later, indicators of change evidence a mix of snail’s pace progress on some measures, stagnation on others and regression in yet others. The parallel event is a space to evaluate the current context, to highlight areas for a gender and communication agenda and contribute to the Beijing+30 review.
The specific objectives are to:
• Review the implementation of Section J of the Beijing Platform for Action and its strategic objectives.
• Propose guidelines for an action agenda on gender and communication to promote gender equality in and through the media in the post-2030 agenda.
